THE PORTFOLIOS

Watercolor Paintings

This is a compilation of all the watercolor pieces I made from 2015 when I started attending my Saturday classes.  It includes pieces that were part of my first 20 lessons mixed in with pieces inspired by photographs taken by friends who are either hobbyists or pros. I like to choose subjects that reflect a significant moment, a happy memory or those that capture a good story that is usually taken from my travels or work in development.

Ink Doodles

a.k.a DISTRACTIONS by Weena Mendoza

I doodle best when I am most distracted – while listening to a talk, in the middle of a meeting, in class, while watching a movie. In some of these pieces, I started off with a figure and then I doodled around it. In others I started  with random strokes and worked with whatever shape appeared. I find that I pick up and comprehend more things in my distracted state than I would if I worked on focusing on just the one thing.  This is the art form I enjoy most.

Creative Explorations

Every now and then I get inspired to color beyond the lines of the colors I made beyond the original lines (if that makes sense!). I would pick up knitting needles or crochet hooks, I would do mosaics, quilts or floral wreaths.   I like to push against the boundaries of what I think or what I am told I  can do.  I think that’s what makes it  fun.  I have compiled a few of my favorite explorations.
